Royal Brunswick Lodge is one of the few old lodges in the province of Sussex. The lodge was consecrated in 18xx and granted its warrant from the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE).
Although we are governed by the Provincial Office in Sussex, being an old lodge we have certain customs that are unique to us. Many visitors and friends to our lodge always acknowledge that it is our unique way of doing things that makes their visit special on every occasion. And we take great pride in this!
We meet six times a year for official lodge business. Outside of these official meetings, we also meet for various social events ranging from picnic in the park, or a drink at the pub, a summer barbecue usually hosted by one of the members, and a Christmas event with family and friends.
We are a small lodge and maintain a limited number of members to ensure that we remain a close knit family unit. Our membership is limited to a maximum of 30 members. Our members enjoy the feeling of this small unit and many of the members have joined us because of this. One of the major advantages of a small lodge is that our members can progress through the offices rapidly (should they so desire). Some members come to the meetings purely for the social interaction and there is no pressure on anyone to take an official role.

Charity is at the heart of everything we do. At every meeting and social event, our members regularly contribute to charity either through monetary contribution or a raffle draw.

Freemasonry is one of the oldest social and charitable organisations in the world. Freemasons use the four important values of brotherly love, friendship, respect and charity. These principles are as true and valuable today as they were in the past.
Freemasonry is based on brotherly love and respect. Freemasonry is non-religious and non-political and these are topics that are not discussed in the lodge either.
Love, respect and charity are at the heart of freemasonry. Members are expected to be of high moral standing, honest and upstanding members of society. Becoming a member is not dependent on the financial standing of members but on their integrity and morals.
